Who is TheDorcDev?
TheDorcDev is my game development persona, where I turn my (sometimes) fun ideas into games. I’ve been making games since 2021, and I currently use Godot to bring my insanites to life. Godot is awesome because it’s flexible and lets me experiment without spending 12 days just for a prototype. I love its ability to handle anything from retro-inspired games to modern, experimental projects.
Before I became TheDorcDev, I went by the name Cylopixel. Back then, I was just getting started with game design, using GDevelop as my first-ever game engine. It helped me learn the basics of coding and interactive design. It was a great place to start, but eventually, I wanted to take things to the next level. That’s when I discovered Godot and made my first actual game, Blobivise. I scraped the game very soon but it was good enough as a rough draft.
Now, I'm TheDorcDev. I haven't released any games with more than 10 minutes of game time under this name but there's a reason why. I'm currently working on my first BIG game, Celestial Rampage. Read below for more information.
My Current Project - Celestial Rampage
Celestial Rampage is my dream game all about shooting aliens, collecting loot and data for government agents, and becoming the king of the space realm. Oh, and the game is themed like it was made in the 90s. I've been working on this game for the past two years (as of November 23, 2024) and made my progress public for the first time a year ago (again, as of November 23, 2024) on GameJolt. The current features that I have in the game are...
- Movement (duh)
- Shooting Enemies
- Stage One Map
- Spawning Enemies
- Death Sequence
- Infinite Waves
- Main Menu
- Settings (including audio and video controls)
- Simple Chiptune Music
- Player, Stage 1 Tilemap, and Enemy Art
But there are some features that are being worked on or will be added soon like...
- More Stages
- Ability to Leave Ship Without Dying
- Lobby Ship
- Ability to Level Up
- Exploring Different "Ships" (stages)
- Weapon Upgrades
- More Music
- Special Abilites
- And way more...
This website might not be updated with the most information but if you want more info on the game or to see actual pictures and videos of the game, your best bet is checking my GameJolt. I don't always post on there but if I add a significant feature or feel the need to post an update, I will. (I'm trying, I swear)
Other Games/Projects
All games are in order of when I made them with the first being the most recent and the last being the oldest.
Minecraft Recipe Screenshotter [MRS]
This one isn't really a game and this is only for very specific use cases but the Minecraft Recipe Screenshotter (MRS) is an app where you can make screenshots for Minecraft recipes. But not just normal Minecraft recipes, but any recipe you can make using PNGs!
Quik-Click
This game is very simple. Select three squares with the same color to get a point and try to get the highest score in 60 seconds. This game is part of my 12 Hour Game series where I try to start and finish a game in 12 hours to improve my gamedev skills.
Dock the Lock
This is a remake of the classic arcade game "Pop the Lock," and the goal is just as simple: click or tap space once the lock is on the coin 50 times to unlock the jackpot and win! This game is part of my 12 Hour Game series where I try to start and finish a game in 12 hours to improve my gamedev skills.
Dong
Dong is Pong but you see the game from the ball, and everytime the ball hits a paddle, it becomes schizophrenic. Are there bugs everywhere? 100%.
The Price of Bread
Disclamer: This game was posted under the Cylopixel alias
This game is focused on selling bread to lucky people. You start selling by the side of the road but that dosen't mean you can't expand. This game was made for the Godot Wild Jam #51, which was my first game-jam.
Chunk Miner
Disclamer: This game was posted under the Cylopixel alias
Chunk Miner is a Minecraft themed clicker game. The goal of the game is to reach the final stage of the game. (you'll know when you know) Please don't sue me Mojang!
DiDungeons "CLASSIC"
Disclamer: This game was posted under the Cylopixel alias
DiDungeons WAS a infinite runner where you had to run and do parkour in a infinitely generating dungeon. But, I messed up the export, didn't add a web export AND "discontinued" it for a new and improved version that never released. You can try playing it but good luck.
Blobivize
Disclamer: This game was posted under the Cylopixel alias
Blobivize WAS my first big game in the works. It was about a game that was broken that you had to beat to fix. But, I messed up the export and didn't add a web export. Plus, I never finished the game. You can try playing it but good luck.
